Department Scholarships

Langara College scholarships and awards are intended to recognize and support the outstanding achievement of our students. Scholarship and award recipients must satisfy all criteria specified by a donor, unless the donor agrees to waive those criteria.

  • The following are the criteria for Departmental Scholarships:
    • be a full-time Regular Studies student in the semester for which the scholarship or award will be received;
    • currently registered in a minimum of nine credits and in a minimum of nine credits in one of the past two semesters;
    • enrolled in at least their second semester of study;
    • must be in good standing at the College;
    • have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher;
    • meet any additional scholarship criteria specified by a donor; these can be found under the scholarship name on our website;
    • most Departmental Scholarships do not require applications and students are selected by recommendation by program Faculty when they meet the specific scholarship criteria. If applications are required, please check with the specific Department Chair of the program.

Students with a registered disability with Accessibility Services or StudentAid BC require to be registered in a minimum of six credits instead of nine credits to be eligible for scholarships.

Part-time students enrolled in six to eight Regular Studies credits in the semester for which the scholarship or award will be received, and in at least one of the past two semesters, may receive scholarships and awards if the donor has directed a portion or all of a fund to part-time students or for Departmental Scholarships, where the department demonstrates exceptional circumstances, such as high program enrolment of part-time students.

Split enrolment students who are also enrolled at other institutions must have nine credits at Langara to meet the requirement.

Business

BCAIM Advertising Campaign Award recognizes students in the course MARK 2400 who create the best Advertising campaign as the final group project. Selection is based on creativity, integrated campaign and completeness.

Business Management Scholarships Three Spring scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits in the Business Management Diploma program.

  • Student with the highest mark in BUSM 4200 - Strategic Management
  • Student with the highest mark in BUSM 3200 - Operations Management
  • Student with the highest mark in BUSM 4100 - Project Management

One Fall scholarship is also awarded to recognize a final term Business Management team of students for excellence in business planning, who receive the highest mark in BUSM 2450.

Dwyer Immigration Medical Services Award is for an international student who is enrolled in and has completed a minimum of 27 credits in one of the post-degree diploma programs within the Faculty of Management. Recipients must demonstrate active engagement, leadership, or a passion for learning in the Langara community or their own community through involvement in student clubs, volunteering, or community services groups. If more than one student meet the above criteria, preference will be given to the student with the highest CGPA. (Spring, Summer, or Fall)

HSBC Bank of Canada International Business Scholarship is awarded to a BBA, Co-op (three credits) or regular student enrolled full-time in the International Business concentration of the BBA program. Recipients must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to community service or extra-curricular activities at Langara College. The recipient of this Scholarship cannot also be the recipient of The Right Honourable Don Mazankowski Scholarship. (Spring)

Innovation Networks Business Technology Award is awarded to a student who has completed BCAP 1200 within the last three terms, and demonstrated the most active engagement and leadership throughout the course. If more than one recipient meets the above criteria, preference will be given to the student with the highest CGPA. (Spring, Summer, or Fall)

Jennifer Prosser Wade and Family Business Scholarship is awarded to a second-year Bachelor of Business student who has contributed to the ongoing learning and growth of fellow students. The recipient must have completed a minimum of 30 credits and no more than 60 credits towards their Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5. (Fall)

Keith Murray Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the fourth year of the Marketing Management concentration of the BBA program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.33. The recipient must show a demonstrated interest and commitment to extra-curricular and athletic activities either within Langara College or in the greater community. Preference will be given to students who are known to be hardworking, reliable, of high integrity, enthusiastic, and supportive of fellow learners. (Spring)

LSM Excellence Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in their last term of the Bachelor of Business Administration program with the highest CGPA. If more than one student meets the award criteria, then the student with the highest CGPA over the last two terms will be considered. (Spring, Summer, or Fall)

Marketing Management Program Scholarship is awarded to the student with the highest GPA in the final 30 credits of the Marketing Management concentration in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. (Summer)

Michael Sharzer Scholarship for Business Presentation Skills recognizes outstanding achievement by Langara College Business students. The two students achieving the highest mark in each section of BUSM 1500 (Business Presentation Skills), min of 85%, will present to a panel of judges composed of faculty in the Bachelor of Business Administration program. The panel will then determine the top presenter. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. (Spring)

Outstanding Marketing Project Awards recognizes outstanding participation, leadership and commitment by students in MARK 3100. Awarded to one student from each project group who are identified by classmates as having demonstrated excellence in their leadership, participation, and commitment to their respective projects.

Right Honourable Don Mazankowski Scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed the third year (90 credits) and is registered in the 4th year of the Bachelor of Business Administration program. It is awarded to the student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in the International Business Management concentration of the Bachelor of Business Administration program. When more than one student has achieved academic excellence, additional criteria of leadership and community involvement will be considered. (Fall)

S. Charania Family Legacy Fund is awarded to a domestic student studying full-time in their fourth year of the Bachelor of Business Administration program – Accounting stream. The recipient plans to pursue a Canadian CPA designation and is actively involved in volunteering and community service activities within Langara or the greater community. Preference is given to a female student who has demonstrated financial need. A departmental application is required. (Fall)

Scotiabank Business Scholarship is awarded to the student with the highest GPA in the final 30 credits of the Accounting concentration in the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. (Summer)

Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia Scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed or enrolled in an International Business Law course, who has shown an exceptional work ethic and who made a significant contribution to the program or the school. (Spring)

Xerox Canada Business Scholarship is awarded to a graduating student with the highest GPA in the final 30 credits of the Business Management Concentration in the BBA program. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. (Spring)

Nutrition and Food Service Management

Complete Purchasing Services Nutrition and Food Services Management Scholarship recognizes outstanding achievement by a student enrolled in the Nutrition and Food Services Management program at Langara College. It is awarded to a student enrolled in a minimum of three (3) courses with the best combined marks in courses with a purchasing focus (FRSV 1213 and 4324). (Spring)

Delaram Dadashnejad Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the Diploma in Nutrition and Food Service Management or Associate of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition program, who has completed a minimum of 30 credits at Langara at the time of their application. The student must be involved in volunteering and community service in the food and nutrition field and demonstrate a character of perseverance and dedication to building relationships. Preference is given to an international student. (Spring, Summer, or Fall)

Helen Armstrong Scholarship is awarded to a student in the Nutrition and Foodservice Management program who has completed at least 24 credits with a minimum CGPA of 2.33 over the past three terms, and is enrolled in at least six credits in the fourth term. The recipient must have at least five years of experience in the food service sector and be now upgrading academic qualifications with the goal of pursuing a Nutrition Management career upon graduation. Additionally, the awardee must have demonstrated perseverance and commitment in having to overcome challenges, personal and/or professional, to succeed in advancing his or her education. (Fall)

Margaret Ottem Scholarship is awarded to a student graduating from the Nutrition and Food Service Management program who has demonstrated the greatest interest, effort and progression in the development of their supervisory and management skills, from the first to the second year of the program. (Summer)
