Admission Requirements

Please refer to the information regarding general requirements for Admission and Application to Langara College programs.

There are two access routes for admission to the third year of the Bachelor of Recreation Management. Students admitted to the third year of the program will have completed at least 60 credits of post-secondary studies in one of the following routes:

  1. Graduation from the Diploma in Recreation Leadership at Langara College; or
  2. The successful completion of at least 60 credits of post-secondary coursework for which Langara awards transfer credit, combined with relevant recreation experience. Prospective students seeking admission through route two must have completed the following:
    • A minimum of six credits of university-transferable English or communications coursework.
    • A Supplemental Recreation Program Application Form. The Supplemental Recreation Program Application Form is a questionnaire regarding the prospective student’s experience in the recreation field, academic experience, and educational and career goals. Based on their post-secondary experience and the information provided in the Supplemental Recreation Program Application Form, students seeking admission through route two will be individually assessed as to whether or not their combination of academic experience and practical experience in the recreation field is equivalent to having achieved the program learning outcomes of the Diploma in Recreation Leadership.

All Bachelor of Recreation Management students are required to complete two courses: RECR 1160 - Foundations of Leisure and Recreation and MARK 1115 - Introduction to Marketing. These courses, which are included in the Diploma in Recreation Leadership curriculum, but not in the Bachelor of Recreation Management curriculum, are prerequisites for several Bachelor of Recreation Management courses. Students are encouraged to take these courses as early as possible in order to progress in the Bachelor of Recreation Management.
