Vancouver, BC – Langara’s VOLT Volunteer Program hosted its first ever Speed Connecting event last night. The two-hour networking session provided students with an opportunity to meet with local organizations about volunteering in the community.
“Connecting students with volunteer organizations is a mission of VOLT,” said Maggie Stewart, VOLT Volunteer Program Coordinator. “The relationship between Langara students and the community grows with every event like this.”
The event itself brought out 25 students and 8 organizations, which allowed participants to have meaningful interactions and make valuable connections.
“I found the VOLT Speed Connecting event to be an eye opener to the myriad of volunteer opportunities within our community,” said Paul Habbas, a Bioinformatics student at the College. “It inspired me to get involved.”
As a result of the event’s success, the VOLT Volunteer Program plans to host this event on an annual basis.
