Langara College to Host Mayoral Debate
 
Vancouver, BC – Langara College is pleased to partner with the Globe and Mail in hosting a debate between the five candidates for Vancouver’s 2014 mayoral race. The event will take place on October 22, 2014, 3:30pm-5:00pm, in Langara’s student cafeteria.
 
The debate will be moderated by veteran Globe and Mail reporter and Langara alumnus Gary Mason, and livestreamed on the Globe and Mail website. A panel of journalists will ask candidates questions that have been submitted by Langara students and reviewed by the moderator and panel members. The panel will consist of Charlie Smith, Editor, Georgia Straight; Frances Bula, Chair, Langara Department of Journalism; and Ash Kelly, Student, Langara Department of Journalism
 
The debate will include all five candidates that have declared their intention to run: Bob Kasting, Independent; Kirk LaPointe, Non-Partisan Association (NPA); Gregor Robertson, Vision Vancouver; Colin Shandler, Independent; and Meena Wong, Coalition of Progressive Electors (COPE).
 
The Globe and Mail will be livestreaming the debate on their website, and Langara will be live-tweeting the event.
