Gillick is a New York and London-based artist who emerged in the 1990s in the midst of paradigmatic political and cultural change. In the past two decades, he has developed a highly influential artistic practice around a discursive model that complicates object production and raises key social questions. Solo exhibitions include The Museum of Modern Art, 2003; The Powerplant Contemporary Art Gallery, 2003; Whitechapel Gallery, 2002; and Palais de Tokyo, 2005. Group exhibitions include Guggenheim Museum, 2004; documenta X, 1997, and 52nd Venice Biennale, 2009.
